UKSemiconductors 2012

We would like to thank our sponsors, exhibitors, plenary speakers, program committee members and all delegates for supporting UK Semiconductors 2012, making it the primary event for showcasing semiconductor research in the UK. For the 2012 conference, we introduced a new session titled Physics in Semiconductors, comprising presentations on spintronics, quantum information, polaritons and other physical effects for which semiconductors provide an ideal environment for investigation of these phenomena. We also welcomed back members of the UK Nitrides Consortium, with a dedicated symposium on nitride semiconductors.

We received over 150 abstracts for the conference and the programme included 4 plenary lectures, 7 invited talks, 76 contributed talks and 67 poster presentations. In total, research groups from 25 UK universities or companies and institutions from a further 28 countries were represented. We are pleased to announce that highlight presentations from the conference will be included in a forthcoming special issue of the IOP’s Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics.

UK Semiconductors 2012 Plenary Speakers:

  • Jerry Meyer (Naval Research Laboratory, USA) “A New Generation of Interband Cascade Lasers for the 3-6 µm Spectral Band”
